Wentworth Economic Development Corporation, Inc. (WEDCO) is seeking an Executive Director
The Executive Director of WEDCO and is responsible for the day to day operations of the organization. WEDCO is a regional non-profit corporation, with oversight provided by the Board of Directors. WEDCO’s mission is to promote and support business and the creation of employment opportunities by providing development assistance and financing. This will be achieved by maintaining an economic development loan program, providing business technical assistance and community education, and supporting other regional planning and investment organizations.

The Executive Director advises and informs the WEDCO Board, interfaces between the board, manages a current staff of one and third party providers, and attends all Board meetings, and other various committee meetings.
WEDCO receives financial support from various agencies through grant and loan requests. The Executive Director is responsible for applying for these grants and loans to ensure WEDCO continues to grow, replenishes the revolving loan fund and expand WEDCO’s outreach efforts.
The Executive Director will prepare budgets, monthly financials, and have a solid understanding of the financial software that is utilized to process the necessary financials aspects of the organization.
WEDCO lends money to small business owners therefore, the Executive Director must have a working knowledge of the cash flow of a business and a solid understanding of the required loan documentation to ensure collectability of the loans. The Executive Director provides technical advice and problem
solving assistance to municipalities and existing, new or prospective businesses. A working knowledge of the full working cycle of small business is critical to achieve this mission.
The Executive Director is the organization’s public figure who focuses on opportunities to improve the vitality of the towns and counties where the organization has a presence. This includes dissemination of promotional and informational material on services, programs, and activities of the corporation. It also includes finding opportunities to increase and retain businesses and jobs within the county and help improve the infrastructure to entice new business activity.
WEDCO’s office is located in Wolfeboro, NH; however, to achieve the above goals and responsibilities, it is necessary for the Executive Director to travel.
Bachelors or Master’s degree in business, accounting, or finance preferred. No less than 3 years related on-the-job experience involving economic development, commercial lending, or similar business activities. Grant writing, commercial lending, strategic thinking and strong interpersonal skills are necessary to be a successful candidate.
